Below is a step by step guide on how you can pay your electricity bills (prepaid and postpaid), water bills and NHIS renewal at your own convenience.

How to pay electricity bills

ECG postpaid customers who are registered on the MTN Momo platform can follow these simple steps to pay their electricity bill

  1. Dial *170#
  2. Select option 2 (pay bill)
  3. Select option 1 (utilities)
  4. Select ECG from the following list
  5. Enter the Meter Account Number
  6. Authorize the payment to complete the process

Your meter is automatically credited upon completion of the process.

ECG power

How to pay your bill/buy prepaid using the ECG Power App

The ECG Power App is an application powered by the Electricity Company of Ghana that allows both postpaid and prepaid customers to credit their account instantly regardless of the time or place. The app supports all postpaid meters but unfortunately not all prepaid meters at the time of writing this article. For now only Nuri/Kamstrup meters are supported, if you buy credit with a smart card or an RFID device (remote) your meter is not supported.

The app is currently available for free download on the App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android. After installation you’ll be required to go through a registration process using your email, mobile number and choosing a password. Once you’ve successfully registered you are now ready to use the app.

  1. Choose the “Make Payment” option to Pay Bills or Buy Prepaid
  2. Select your meter type (Postpaid/Prepaid)
  3. Enter your Account Number for postpaid or Meter Number for prepaid
  4. Select payment method
  5. Enter Mobile Number and amount you want to pay
  6. Click on “Submit” to complete the process

Your meter is automatically credited upon completion of the process.

Paying your water bill is very fast and simple across all three major Mobile Money platforms.

  1. For MTN users dial *170#
  2. Select option 2 (Momo Pay and Bills)
  3. Select option 2 (Pay Bills)
  4. Select option 1 (Utilities)
  5. Select option 2 (Ghana Water)
  6. Enter your Account Number (Meter Number)
  7. Enter the amount you are paying
  8. Enter your Mobile Money PIN code

You will receive a notification confirming your payment once it’s successful

Vodafone

  1. For Vodafone users dial *110#
  2. Select option 4 (Make Payment)
  3. Select option 1 (Pay Bill)
  4. Select option 3 (Utilities)
  5. Select option 1 (Ghana Water)
  6. Enter your Account Number (Meter Number)
  7. Enter the amount you are paying
  8. Enter your Vodafone cash PIN code

You will receive a notification confirming your payment once it’s successful

AirtelTigo

  1. For AirtelTigo users dial *500#
  2. Select option 3 (Pay Bills)
  3. Select “Ghana Water”
  4. Enter the amount you are paying
  5. Enter your AirtelTigo cash PIN code
